What are your anchors?
Anchors are activities that you engage in to that help ground you. You may not even be aware that you do turn to them when you are feeling adrift.
One way to identify your anchors is the sense of flow you experience when you take part in the activity. You most likely enjoy them in solitude.
When things seem a bit off course in your life, check your anchors. Maybe you need to drop one of your anchors, and spend some time doing it.
For me, they are writing, yoga, tidying up, walking and strength training. I do them on a regular basis or so I thought. Yet, there was still a sense that I was ‘off’ in some way.
Something seemed to be unmooring me.
I realized there was one anchor I hadn’t dropped in a while and when I did it made all the difference.
